When flowing, lava can be often be seen day or night. Due to flight departure times from Hilo, visits to the lava viewing area regularly conclude at approximately 6:00pm. If you desire to see lava at night, please be sure to check the time of predicted sunset during the season in which you are planning to visit to determine darkness for lava viewing. Because of the ever-changing intensity and course of lava activity, viewing areas are subject to change as deemed necessary by Hawaii Civil Defense. Additionally, please be aware that lava flows are a naturally occurring event and sightings are not guaranteed. We do not guarantee the viewing of active lava flow or other natural events.

 

Volcanic fumes (VOG) are hazardous to your health. Persons with breathing and heart difficulties, pregnant women, infants, and young children are especially at risk should not consider this tour to avoid potential health problems from exposure to fumes. All passengers are required to sign a release of liability form.

Comments   This was my first time to Hawaii and I knew I had to get out of Waikiki for at least a day and explore the island. I didn’t have a rental car and my concierge sold me this tour because it goes to all the places that I would have driven to on my own. We made a stop at a beach on the north shore where I saw five sea turtles swimming and on the beach. Amazing day and even a more amazing guide!
